Peter Okonkwo is a poet, storyteller, journalistic interviewer, and creative director whose work spans poetry, storytelling, and performance, engaging with a wide variety of themes, ideas, and human experiences
Every life contains a story, and every story written becomes part of history.
My work explores the many dimensions of human experience through poetry, storytelling, interviews, fiction, and literary reflection. Some pieces challenge assumptions. Others preserve memory, celebrate existence, document lives, or ask questions that even I, as the writer, cannot answer. Together, they form a body of work that resists simple categories while remaining rooted in thoughtful inquiry and carefully crafted language.
I write from a place of deep emotions, profound human experiences, and unwavering sincerity. Some lines may affirm what you already believe; others may unsettle your convictions. They may move you to tears, provoke disagreement, or leave you sitting in thoughtful silence. Whatever the response, it is part of the conversation the work hopes to begin.
Peter Okonkwo is a Nigerian writer, poet, journalist interviewer, fatalist, literary critic, violinist, creative founder, editor, photographer/videographer, musician, publisher, soon–to–be novelist of Etean’s Destiny, certified orator, and show presenter at PEL.
He is the author of seven poetry collections: Ecstasy of the Dead (2020), Fate, In the Dungeon of Doom (2021), Whose Fault, Kismet or Impediment (2021), and the Escape from the Unseen Dungeons book series. Peter is gifted with the aptitude to explore and demystify certain difficult life issues through his thought-provoking, raw arresting transcendent poetry.
His works have been reviewed to critical acclaim (locally and internationally) and featured in notable literary magazines, newspapers, and TV stations, including the Australian Plumwood Mountain Journal, The Lagos Review, Writers Space Africa, Afreecan Reads, Sevhage, Ngiga Review, Con-Scio, The Nigeria Review, Daily Trust Newspaper, The Journal of African Youth Literature, among others. He was an exhibiting author at Africa’s second-largest international book fair, NIBF, 2024 edition, and a Press Man at the 2025 London Book Fair. In 2024, he received an endorsement from Arts Council England (ACE) recognizing his exceptional works in the field of literature.
